New Creative Ideas for Curtains

I get a kick out of someone asking me if I have any new creative ideas for curtains.  This was my second time working with this client and that is exactly what they said to me in regards to their dining room.

They had bought some ready made draperies from a store and hung them themselves but were less than thrilled with the outcome (a story I hear all too often).
They had loved the tall curtains we installed last year in their Great Room and really just wanted the same fabric, but with a different twist.  Since I knew they trusted me, I thought they might be adventuresome with these new curtains.  I recalled a conversation I had with another designer when I attended the International Window Covering Expo earlier this year.  Take a simple pleated curtain top and treat the pleat a little differently.
So I sketched a two-prong pleat and added buttons that would be attached to both sides of the pleat.  And I was right, they took a chance and trusted my vision.  We added little black buttons to a great neutral color textured fabric.

Another custom touch was in the hardware.  The customer really did not like the look of rings on a rod, so I asked my favorite hardware vendor to weld some eyelets onto the bottom of the black metal pole.  The curtains are securely attached but seem to hang effortlessly from the bottom of the rod.

We always love a happy customer, and the next time I suggest this design to someone I will have great photos to show them!
